Fun Facts Friday
She was named the second most popular woman in America in 1945 by Fortune Magazine; she had cookbooks, her own TV show and was a regular on The Burns and Allen Show. But who was Betty Crocker?
She was a made up woman created by marketing genius Marjorie Husted to be the face of General Mills in 1921! Her signature was that of a secretary in the administrative offices which is still used today and her face was a blend of the woman who worked in the company. Her face and style has been updated over the years, but she remains one of the most popular women in America today! Great idea- who doesn’t know who Betty is? But who knew Betty Crocker was a marketing phantom!
