Sometimes, you have to say NO to radishes!

In this economy, most people are in the same sorrowful state. Their income is down along with the value of their asset base.  Some people are teetering on being unemployed.

Scary stuff!    Each day as the stock market falls and the wealthy fall into the ranks of the middle class fear grows to anxiety. ….make that anxiety grows into fear. If we have not tightened the sails and battened down the hatches, perhaps now is a good time to do so. The retailers and Industry also have to loosen up and allow the consumer to shop and pay a fair price for goods.

The recent increase in food prices was reflective of gas prices. As the price of gas recedes, food prices have stayed the same.  I like a salad with most meals or even as a meal.  I like a salad with a little lettuce and lots of stuff in it. Dr Gupta says to eat 9 colors a day and I strive for more than 9 in my salad!  Anything raw and crunchy goes in the bowl.

I go to the organic produce shop (my splurge) for my fruits and veges, since that is pretty much what we eat. Sunday night I stopped at the store to pick up some stuff and the radishes were $1.79! I usually pay 99 cents for a bunch of fresh radishes.  How dare they charge that!  Almost twice the price; I will not pay that.  If the food industry cried about the increase in fuel prices and increased their prices, why aren’t they lowering them to coincide?  Are they trying to make up for lost profits or simply gauche until they can?

The consumer must do something to show we will not stand for it! I put those radishes back on the shelf.  Let them rot before they charge me that price.  If it has to be a very green thanksgiving in my salad bowl, so be it.  Say no to radishes!
